quick fix

Quick Fix speculative design project

In my second year of HKU fashion design, I received an assignment focused on speculative design. We worked in groups of five, where two members concentrated on creating the world and story behind our design, while the other three focused on making the garments. I chose to be part of the garment-making team because I wanted to improve my technical skills.

The theme for this project was “a job for the future.” We developed a story about a company that sends workers to repair the hole in the ozone layer. Since there was no permanent solution yet, many people needed to be deployed quickly, which inspired the name “Quick Fix”. This concept guided us toward designing uniforms and workwear with a durable, rugged aesthetic.

Within this project, I primarily focused on using professional methods for garment construction. From pattern drafting to proper finishing. I had little knowledge about this beforehand and learned a lot throughout the project.

I designed the pants, helmet, and gun.
Lois de Scheemaker designed the jacket.
Quermo Stapel designed the shoes, gloves and hat.
Bonnie Timmermans and Franca Fokkinga designed the story and production.
