bindloos
Bindloos is an artwork that explores the theme of fear of commitment through three pieces, presented as both an outfit and a short film. Symbolic garments represent layers of protection, vulnerability, and the struggle of letting go.
The viewer first sees a cape, symbolizing protection and a lack of connection. This is followed by a mesh dress covered in natural latex. In this work, the latex represents the final layer between you and the person you want to connect with. Its skin-like texture reflects the vulnerability of someone opening up to others.
The shoes, both literally and figuratively a weight around your ankles, illustrate that breaking down your walls doesn’t immediately solve everything. You can still be stuck in the past, and it takes time and effort to break free from it.
